This Cooking for Men group has been running for over 25 years, during which time it has developed into a well-honed social gathering of enthusiastic, fun-loving, amateur wannabe chefs. We take it in turns to bring recipes to the cooking sessions together with sufficient ingredients to feed the group a two-course meal, directing the rest of the group in its preparation and cooking.

Sometimes things don’t go quite according to plan, which all adds to the fun, but we always enjoy eating the fruits of our labour, washed down with a glass or two of wine. A classic example was at Kenny G's lunchtime bash (see two-page spread).

Before Covid struck, the group published its first (and last!) cookbook - The Gourmet Geezers Cookbook (see link to our website). Together with its book launch dinner at Haslewey, this raised, over £3000 for our chosen local charity: The Hunter Centre. The introduction to the cookbook provides an interesting background to the history of the group.

Since then we have held two further very successful 100-seatings charity dinners at Haslewey to raise money for the Hunter Centre and Haslewey itself.

We recently (the week following the coronation of King Charles) changed our Group Leader. We therefore felt it would be appropriate at that time to hold our own coronation of our new Group Leader. Our very amature efforts were recorded on an iPhone for posterity (or until the link is taken down!). Do take a look at the link below
