The Current Affairs group meets each month in normal times and discusses issues of a social, economic and political nature of international, national and local interest which are currently in the news. The leader draws up a list of about ten possible subjects which he circulates to members of the group and welcomes other suggestions from group members. We have nearly fifty members on the circulation list and are getting about twenty-five at each meeting. We have removed our temporary restriction to that number which was set up because of the pandemic. We sit in a circle and discuss the subjects in turn with anyone at the meeting able to raise points. Discussion generally is courteous and shows respect for different views. We don't solve the world's problems but we all learn from one another. Our members have worked in many different areas and in some cases in different countries so that discussion is usually well-informed.
